Some of the best people to learn from when it comes to working quickly are writers. Every one of them has developed a process that works for themselves. But Julian Shapiro came up with a process that works for all. Whether you’re a writer, editor, influencer or the influenced, his tip can definitely buy you a whole lot of time!
The 3-Step Process To Working Faster:
1.PURSUIT WHAT YOUR MIND OBSESSES ON: How do you even decide on what to begin with? On the bright side, you’re not starting from a blank slate. You are filled with endless ideas and tasks to do. Out of a hundred of those piling thoughts, there are one or two that you just can’t get out of your head! So do those first. This interest and teeny bit of stress can propel you to the finish line much faster. If you’re already thinking it, just do it.
2. SPEED-RUNNING: The second step that follows is to just run through the start and finish quickly. For your first draft, connect your thoughts but don’t develop them yet. Make sure your plan personally interests you by asking questions that matter to yourself. This will keep your plan colourful! Don’t dull it down with facts and examples just yet, they come in later. Make it authentic.
3. REALISTIC PERSPECTIVE: This is where you fill in the blanks you left out. Your plan will start to take shape once you note down the examples, analogies and statistics. This will make your target audience resonate and believe in your plans. Want to impress your boss with a new proposal? Convince your audience to take on a call to action? Or make your last minute work look cohesive? Don’t miss this part.
