One of the fastest growing social media platforms of the decade. Although Instagram is largely populated by the Early Generation Z, at least 50% of those aged between 25 to 49 use Instagram too. With a platform that has such a huge number of users, going viral is not easy. With visual content being the new in thing, how can you make content for your business that stands out from the rest?
- Visual Branding: As one of the social media platforms that focuses largely on visual content, visual branding is the way to go. Unlike Youtube or TikTok, your content format is not limited to just videos. Instagram allows for videos, photos, gifs, and static graphics. Combining and making use of all these different formats will enhance the aesthetics of your Instagram page, making it more noticeable. My personal biggest source of inspiration for Instagram content is Universal Music’s Instagram Page – they’ve found a way to marry and capitalise on all the different formats available to Instagram and create something so original and uniquely theirs.
- Messaging: Focus on the message of your content and what your intended outcome is. This is a prime example of “trusting the process”. Preferences and interests are subjective and ever-changing. Constantly chasing what the latest trends are for your target group and keeping up with it can make you lose sight of your purpose. Instead nail down on what you want to show and what results you want and incorporate trends and build your content around that core.
- Platform Features: Did you know Instagram recently announced the launch of a new feature called “Reels”? Reels is supposedly an adaptation of TikTok for Instagram. It has been 10 years since Instagram was created, and the application is still constantly adding new features and improving its user experience – its multiple picture function, video posts of up to 1 minute, Instagram stories, AR filters, Instagram TV, and more. Instagram is slowly becoming a one stop social media platform for all visual heavy content, especially video. If you have an Instagram account for your business and are not using any of these features, what’s the point?
As one of the highest used social media platforms with 1 billion active users, Instagram is definitely an asset you should use for your business. Even if you’re a corporate entity, you can make educational videos, tips & tricks, showcase your brand’s personality, and so many more other ideas. Trust the creative process, no content is done for nothing. If you need help ideating and breaking into Instagram, hit us up!
