“[Digital] Pollution is when you don’t care for the environment when there is too little or no regulation to preserve the ecosystem. Looking at the web today – tells us something is wrong with the ads we are serving to consumers “
– Patrick Collister, Creative Director of Ad-Lib
Digital pollution is happening right now as many marketers recklessly concentrate their efforts digitally, without proper creative planning. It’s causing large numbers of online users to download adblockers to avoid one bad ad – unfortunately blocking the good ones too! Here are some tips in how you can take care of your market’s digital space to reverse this problem:
- Creativity is power: Take your time to properly craft an interesting idea that engages your audience online. Don’t use technology just for the sake of staying in trend, use it to enhance your works!
- Quality and Quantity are both important: Producing high quality content shouldn’t discourage you from making more, they are not mutually exclusive. Know your limits and only deal with what you can manage.
- Think about their user experience: Analyse your data and find out your audience’s online pattern. Strategise your content around these key findings and develop a more targetted and narrowed approach!
Always remember that you’re part of a bigger picture – your audience, your competitors and your niche industry makes up your digital environment! Your actions could always snowball into something bigger beyond your control. So be careful of the things that you post online, the good things in life take time.
