In our “new normal”, the content that gets attention from its targetted audience is the content most likely to translate results. Having lesser avenues to capture your audience also breeds more competition. Here are some ways in which you can keep up with trends of a more audience-centric marketing environment:
- Analytics: Consumption habits are evolving with the times and as we are living in its first stage, there aren’t many research and studies to guarantee what the trend is for the current climate. From your website, to your social media accounts, every number is data on your audience preference for content, and consumption habits.
- Research: While there is not many research done that can predict for certain the current trend, you can do you own leg work by observing competitors and understanding the similarities for content that works. Research can also help you determine content types most suited for your audience group.
- Innovate: Other than usual online platforms, where else can you capture your audience? Go in-depth in your understanding of your audience preferences and see what other avenues can be used to reach out to them. Some examples would be niche groups about gardening if you’re selling gardening products, or running Google Display Ads on sites that focus on lifestyle and nature.
If you take the time out to understand your audience by heart, the content you produce and the decisions you make will be geared to their unconscious and/or conscious media consumption habits. Doing that will allow you to stand out from the competition as you catch them at the right time, and the right place.
